What can you tell me about BONE SPURS in the FOOT?

other then they are very painful. Doc says I have one in my heel.
Exactly IS a bone spur?
What causes a bone spur?
What do they do to "fix" it?
Will it come back?

MOST IMPORTANTLY What can I do to relieve the pain??

Its like the spur of a rooster's foot its your body's way of getting you to give it a break such as injuring you foot and continuing to use it your bone creates a spur so you will have pain and give it a rest they can surgically remove it they may grow back especially if you don't give it time enuff to heal.
Stretching your calf muscles help before doing any climbing or exercising soaking in hot tub with Epsom salts helps also.exercisers like putting your feet on the edge of a step and lunging up and down can help strengthen your muscles to avoid re injuring your heal bone.Mine almost broke away where my ligament attached to my heel because i climbed a lot without being in shape.
