I have intermittent pain and a hard bump on the top of my left foot. Could this be a bone spur?
Sometimes the pain comes and goes - even just laying in bed. It is kind of like a burning sensation. More recently I have developed a hard bump on the top of the foot. My neck also often feels like it gets locked, and then snaps pretty loud - rather concerning. I think I eat right, and get the proper amounts of calcium, but wonder what could be going on? Could these be signs of arthritis? I don't know what kind of doctor to see? Does anyone have any suggestions?

sounds like a ganglion cyst, which is an inflammation of the nerves in the foot, sometimes they can burst and go away and sometimes they come back. They can inject it, or surgically remove it if it keeps coming back. If that's what it is, and it most likely is, its not that harmful, just painful here and there. Look it up, i'm sure that's it.
I don't like the sound of that hon. Lumps are not a good thing. Hopefully it's just a calcium buildup or something of that nature but get it checked out. You don't want to find out it's something worse when it could have been looked at and handled easily up front and right away. It's likely nothing though but do go get it looked at.
You know you actually get shorter as you age, something about your bones all compressing, so it's likely that some changes are occuring with gravity working as it has for all those years. Again, get an xray or even a CT scan and find out what's going on there.
It could be a ganglion too. Come to think of it I had one as a teenager on my ring finger...couldn't wear a ring so I had it removed. It was hard as a rock.
I think they tend to form around joints and tendons, so it could be that, and that's and in and out procedure.
Sorry, didn't want to scare you but I hate lumps...a lump on my son's shin (he's only 11) ended up being cancer this summer. So never ignore these things. Best you know what they are asap in case they end up being something bad.
