I have a bone spur or cartilage on my knee cap. it only hurts when i put presssure on it. i can move the piece

around using my fingers ... so i know its a foriegn matter. its very firm, has been there for 2 weeks now.. i do not remember banging my knee on anything. i went to my primary care doctor and was told that it was probably a splinter? and to take ibuprofen for 2 weeks... is this guy nuts... for a splinter? the doctor asked if i did carpet installation or other jobs where i kneel all the time ... I DO NOT ...any ideas?

My dad had loose cartilage in his knee. He went to a specialist. And the doctor gave him some sort of shot, and its been better ever since. So, I recommend you see a different doctor.
Have an Orthopedic Surgeon look at it. I can be removed easily by a simple and slightly intrusive operation. Recovery is one week.
do you do x-ray AP_LAT if spure need either local injection or surgery or laproscopic toexcise but most important thing is to perfect diagnoss by history and physical examination & investigaation
