Bone spur or what?
I had an xray back in April the doctor said I have something like a fish fin growing on my forearm, about an inch above my elbow. It kind of looks similar to a bone spur. Can that be causing me pain in my elbow instead of it self tennis elbow? What does a doctor do about it?
Answers: The spur could be causing pain within the forearm but there is not enough information here. Is the spur on the ulna or radius and where is it located? Is it on the inside of the bone or the outside. Since it is located below the communal I don't think that is the cause of the elbow strain unless it is pushing into one of the muscles. This is why it is important to know on which side of the bone. Another question that must be asked is what activities are you doing when it bothers you? The spur may be unrelated to anything to be exact causing the pain. If you are seeing an orthopedist talk to he or she give or take a few this if you are not seeing an orthopedist see one.
May be an exotosis. Docs will probably apply benign neglect -- just watching it, but not attempting to remove it.
