Explain bone spur surgery?
I have a spur on the back of my heel.I am also having achilles aching on the same foot.Does anyone know the approximate recovery time after the surgery for the heel spur and would I need to wear a boot or style?thanks
Answers: My son had that done and it seems to me that he walk with crutches for a week or so, and then was given a walking kind. He was probably down, not completely down, for three weeks because of it. I told him and I'm going to tell you, when you have that spur removed, form sure the Doctor puts what they refer to as a band-aid over where the spur was cut off. If you don't hold that done, then the spur can resurface, and I'm sure you don't want that. It could have been the route they cut his foot to remove the spur. You may have a better surgeon and it can be done microscopically, his was cut at the back of his heel. So you may not even own to wear a walking cast or use crutches, most likely one or the other, but maybe for a shorter extent of time. But either way, take it remarkably easy for a while, even if it feels good. I preference for you the very best young lady and may your surgery be an unforced one for you. Good luck.
I have dealt with this and I know it is a tangible, debilitating pain. My doctor told me to first try changing my shoes, to brand sure the heal is "cupped", and the heal of the shoe sets quite a bit better than the toes. I had been wearing crocks, and swore by them, but when the heal get inflamed, it wouldnt get better. The doc said absolutely no more crocks, cause they dont cradle the make well the way a pair of tennis shoes do. I am a nurse, on my feet 12-15 hours a afternoon, and nothing has really helped me. I know I am also looking at surgery contained by the future, but in the meanwhile, I have found that New Balance shoes are incredibly effective for me barring a horrible shift with absolutely no down time. A right anti-inflamitory is a must, and ask your doc about the specific stretches to help with the inflamation. I also have the achiles tendonitis. I feel for you, it is very painful. With rest from the foot, and antiinflamitories, the tendonitis go away. The bone spur is still there but with the change surrounded by the shoes, for the most part it is barable. I'm just suggesting trying alternative measures if you haven't already prior to surgery. There is no guarantee that the bone spur wont come back once it is file off.
