Taping foot with heel spurs?
Answers:
You can do that, but it won't help a lot or for long.
You should consult with your doc and check into having it removed.
In the long run, I can see where it can cause a lot of havoc down the road for you.
Pain in your heel will cause you to limp putting undo pressure on the other foot, knee, and hip. It can also effect your back as you adjust the angle of your body for the limp and cause lower back pain.
I personally haven't had it done yet. I'm on my feet 13 hours a day, people i work with have their feet taped but they are injected with marcaine first, it lasts a few months. It's supposed to work for heel spurs and plantar faciaitis. there are over the counter things ya can buy, (I just bought some for myslef) couldnt' tell ya if they work or not, but i'm going to give it a shot, can't take the pain any more. I know how ya feel, shooting pain from the heel, up the leg to the knee. I live it honey, have your foot injected then taped.
I have two sugesstions that have worked VERY well for me. 1) stretching the plantar fascia (basically the arch of your foot). Yes, it's a little painful, but once stretched out, you will feel MUCH better. 2) freeze a bottle of water and roll your foot (mainly the arch) over it.
Some other things you can do is take an anti-inflammatory, and wear shoes with good arch supports (especially if you will be walking/running/standing for any length of time). Visit your podiatrist who may be able to recommend some other things to ease your pain. Possibly a brace to wear on your foot at night to keep it flexed, thereby keeping the fascia from becoming too taught.
Hope some of this helps!
