Depending on how big your heel spur is. I had one and I got it to go away here is what I did

For some reason the ligaments on your bottom of your foot stortens or is inflamed and starts to rip off of your heel bone if left untreated it can cause a spur there might be another cause

Ware a shoe with a heel a wedge heel is best as it provides stablity if you are a guy there are dress shoes with a sm wedge heel.

If not at the pharmacy in the foot section get a good arch surport and they also have inserts for heels they raise them up and the ones made for heel spurs will have a piece in the middle that you can take out this will take the presure off it

I had problems with my feet and the only way I could get releif was to use the surports and I had to ware shoes with a heel any time I was on my feet this included in the house after a year or so I did not need them any more

You also need to stretch out the legaments in the bottom of your foot. There are a couple of excercises that can help

Get a can of soup the two serving size now sit on a chair and place the can on the floor on it's side now place your foot on it and slowly gentlely roll your foot over it not too hard at first after awhile you can go harder but it should not cause pain.

Do this ten to twenty times three times a day

now bring your foot back and keep your toes on the ground and bring the rest of your foot up like you are taking a step but keep your toes on the ground done go too far you do not want to over do it because it will get worse

Now use heat before you excercise and use ice after you need to do the heel and the arch

Another trick for the ice get paper cups and 1/3 fill them with water and freeze them peel back the paper so some of the ice is exposed and on your bare foot rub the ice on the heel make sure you keep it moving and do not do more then one cup of ice

This is what the foot clinic had me do

If you do end up having sugery you may want to do some of the above because people with this problem will get it over and over again. So preventing the next one is important

I hope this helps
