Heel spur makes it very difficult to take the first few steps in the morning.any suggestions?
the walking becomes less painful after moving around for a while, but the first few steps after getting out of bed are nearly impossible. any stretches that can be done before getting out of bed. any medication that can be taken the night before to lessen the pain?

I don't know if this will help...try rubbing liniment on your affected foot or feet before going to bed. Your feet should be elevated when you sleep.
If it still hurts, consulting a doctor is advisable.

anti-inflammatory...what happens is..when we are in bed...the fluids shift at the heel area...and it gets slightly swollen at the heel pad, u can sit for a while and have ur feet flat on the floor..just enough time to distribute the fluid..it will still hurt but not as much
Yes, take calcium pills, strong ones at night before going to bed with water from now on, not only will it help the bone spur, it will help the terrible pain! I had one and it did hurt so bad, I started taking calcium at night and within a week the pain was gone, I mean totally gone, no more pain, it was great! Try it and please report back.

As suggested in one of these posts, sit on the edge of the bed first.
I did hot and cold therapy to help with the inflamation. Since medication will only cover the symptoms and not the cure (usually) I researched insoles, arch supports and shoes.
Avia gel soles shoes worked the best. they may be running shoes, not sure.
It may take more than one remedy to deal with this. Hope you find relief!
