Does anyone have experience with a pinched nerve causing heel spurs and achilles tendonitis?
I've been seen by a rheumatologist, podiatrist and am now trying an orthopedist. All of them are treating the symptoms, but I have no explanation of the cause of the problem. Today, a chiropracter looked at my back and found two locations above my hips that were extremely painful when pressure was applied. He feels that is the cause of the problem in my feet. I'm going to check into this further, but wanted to know if anyone else has dealt with a similar problem.
Answers:
Spurs are calcium deposits, so a pinched nerve won't cause that.
However, I am surprised that the chiropractor didn't offer you ultrasound treatments to help break up the spurs. It's a common practice, and maybe you should see another chiropractor who knows about this kind of treatment. It's virtually painless and is a viable alternative to surgical removal of the spurs.
A good chiropractor should also be able to "manipulate" your spine or other bones to help relieve the pinched nerve, too.
As to the tendonitis, I suspect that the pain from the heel spurs is causing you to walk differently, somewhat, placing more stress on parts of the feet that aren't normally used as much, therefore causing the tendonitis. However, I have tendonitis in my feet and heels because I have a condition commonly known as "flat feet."
yes, i have. i had a nasty fall in high school which permanently knocked my hips outta whack...one not sits two inches higher than the other (though not noticable unless youre looking for it)...anyways, with this offset it pinches nerves and my feet constantly fall asleep.
