How do you fix Heel Spurs?

Answers:
1Get your self some padded innersoles and cut out a small area around where the spur is
2 Do regular calf and instep stretches
3 Each night for 10 mins or so while SITTING role your foot on a wine or beer bottle. Make sure you are sitting NOT standing. The purpose of this exercise is to desensitise the tissue around the spur and stretch the instep.
4 Look at the shoes you are wearing. The soles may be worn and causing the problem

Surgery is not really the best option as the recovery is painful and restricting and the regrowth % of the spurs is very high.
ouch they hurt a lot . you can take athlets tape and tape the heel and arch up to get some suport that way . but really go and see the podaitrist
Surgery, I'm a nurse.
I know of at least 3 people that had bone spurs in their heels that received cortisone injection in their heels in order to get rid of the inflammation. It might take more than one injection (3 injections are the limit) but it helped them completely. You might want to check out this website too for more hints: heelspurs.com.
P.S. My husband's were very painful.
Most will become painless over time. Other conservative options that should be tried prior to surgery include calf stretching, orthotic correction, cortizone injections or iontophoresis with dexamethazone, ultrasound with hydrocortisone (phonophoresis)...surgery should be your last option.
someone already mentioned it. I rolled my foot on a bottle every chance I got, even if it's for 2 or 3 minutes.
Pain went away in a few weeks.
G'day, try getting a glass bottle and rolling your foot on it. You have to do this for a little while but it does eventually work. My dad did this and so did my uncles.
Good Aussie remedy.

I am certain it will work, do it for about half an hour while you are watching the footy or someone good.

Oww .. these hurt so much when they are bad. Strapping the foot with tape may help (ask podiastrist for method), anti-inflammatories (or arthritis creams) may assist. Usually these spurs are caused by being more active on the foot than usual, so rest is recommended to give the foot a break. Also, appropriate footwear (i.e. supportive footwear from chemist) helps quite a bit. You can also get inner soles that support the foot - some come with "shock absorbers". Plenty of good websites also for advice, as this is just the main sample. All the best . :0)
Cushions only bring releif, get some referals from doctor to get corrective surgery.
I bend my foot upwards for a few seconds and this works wonders in reducing the pain and over a period of 3 months it has shown a lot of improvement.
