What is a cure for heel spurs?
Answers:
I would like to preface my reply with the remark that I am not a Doctor. I am a massage therapist. My answer is based on reading and personal experience. I do recommend a visit to the Dr. if you haven't done so. That way, you will now if you really are dealing with a bone spur.
If I were in your place, the first thing I would do is try to make my feet comfortable; arch supports, gel inserts, padding the heels, anything to bring about comfort. Warm Epsom Salts baths a few times a day would help, too.
I would try to increase the amounts of calcium, potassium, and vitamin D in my diet. There have been several studies done ( I read one about 2 years ago in the Townsend Letter, www.townsendletter.com) that suggest bone spurs are caused when Ca is removed from the bone to relenish depleted blood levels of Ca. If you raise the ambient blood level of Ca, the bone spur is resorbed. I recommended this to my father. He had a spur in his shoulder. It took about three months, but, his spur resolved without surgery. I have also had a few clients who have followed this protocol. They have had good results too.
It may work for you and it may not. I just offer this up to you for you to do with as you please. Good Luck!
My orthopedic doctor perscribed orthopedic arch supports and my insurance paid for them!!!! The arch supports hold ur feet in a natural position and compensate for your flat feet.
