Can anyone tell me if this is a heel spur or not?

I have lots of pain in my heel when I flex and bend my ankle (like to walk). The pain sometimes extends up into my ankle. I am pretty sure it's a heel spur but I want some other opinions first b4 I go to the docs (mental preparedness I guess).

Answers:
If the pain is primarily in the morning, especially when you first put your foot down on waking up, then it is most likely plantar fasciitis. It could also be a boil inside your foot, I had one client (I do reflexology) where we couldn't figure out what was wrong. Finally, he went to a podiatrist and they removed the internal boil. It was there for a long time too.

It does sound like a heel spur though. You can buy doughnut shaped pads for the heel area of your shoes at CVS, etc. If they help, most like it is a spur.

Good Luck,

Could just be the pressure of your shoes, put some camphor chapstick on the pain and put an eggshell foam in your shoes for
comfort.
Is it a general area pain or can you massage your heel and find a specific pain point. I have a heel spur and it hurts whenever I run in bare feet. If you have a general area hurt, it may be tendons or something like that. See if you can locate the source and push on it. If it hurts wickedly, it might be a bone spur. If its an all-around pain, it might be something else. Good luck.
It could well be a heel spur, my foot went completely numb. The doctor will probably give you a prescription for shoe inserts.
I had the same type of pain in the bottom of my heel. I thought for sure it was a heel spur. My doctor did x-rays that came back inconclusive. She sent me to get an MRI. The orthopedic doc said it was a stress fracture, or more commonly referred to as a "march fracture". They call it that from the new recruits in basic training get this frequently from pounding the pavement with their boots on. He put me in a cast for six weeks and I stayed off it.
