If you know where I can find information about the Depo Prevero and Osteoporosis?
I need to find some information on this subject I have broken several bones last week and I am told it is due to this I cant find the information on this.
Answers:
Osteoporosis is a long term effect of the depo. I was on it for nearly 10 years and now have osteopenia. (before osteoporsis) If they knew then about it I would have been off it a long time ago. I am at 60% on bone desity in my hips and feet. Depo has what they call a black box warning about it. If you are breaking bones it is long past time to change birth control. I'm surprised your doctor didn't call for a bone density test a couple years ago when this fact became known.
I was on depo for 18 or 21 months and I never had any problems. I haven't been on it for 5 yrs now, but I wonder if there are any long term side effects. I had no idea that they were linked in any way. If you find the information just let me know cause it would be nice to know about. Thanks and good luck! I hope you get to feeling better soon.
