Meds factor in osteoporosis?
could medications possibly contribute to the onset of osteoporosis, henceforth spinal compression fractures...
Answers:
Dan is correct...in fact, many of my male patients who have had a compression fracture I can usually bet on them having taken prednisone long term which is thought to have resulted in osteoporosis.. (remember that males are less likely to expereince osteoporosis)
of course
yes, the most common being prednisone. Steroids are well known to cause osteoporosis if used chronically.
