Medicines for osteoporosis?
Answers:
Boniva and Actonel are the most prescribed.
They do exist, as do plans for prevention - which include calcium and exercise.
I understand that the underlying cause for osteoporosis can be high insulin - hyperinsulinemia.
For basic information on hyperinsulinemia, check out www.mayoclinic.com and search for hyperinsulinemia.
For basic information on hypoglycemia one of the effects of hyperinsulinemia, check out www.hufa.org.
milk,milk,milk,banana,calciumt...
I don't know the name but a family member takes it thru her nostrils.
To prevent it, I exercise, drink milk, and take a calcium supplement.
Osteoporosis is a thinning of the bones and is caused in part by the reduced intake of calcium. Physicians often prescribe various hormonal drugs and calcium but it is only half of the real answer. A balanced diet (with added calcium or calcium pills), and lots of fish, vegetables and fruit and a bit of sunlight (producing Vitamin D) and exercise...Consider Tai Chi (Chinese shadow boxing) as it is slow and keeps the body more limber. I live in China and the cure-all here is green tea...drink it if you like it but it is not a cure. There are various herbal remedies in America (check the web) and I think that slippery elm was one of them...but in any event, check with your physician before you mix herbal and other pharmaceuticals.
