Is osteoporosis reversible?

I have premature bone loss (osteoporosis) caused by menstrual irregularities. My menses have returned but my bone density never went back to normal.I already did everything to help my bones now:regularly get Vitamin D from the sun,I'm on calcium supplementation,I exercise regularly but my bones are not responding. They are still the way they are (osteoporotic). I am beginning to conclude that osteoporosis is irreversible.Do you think I am right?

Osteoporosis is reversible. Several medications have just been released late last year for osteoporosis. Fosamax or Bonviva (brandnames; generic name is alendronate) is currently being prescribed for patients with osteoporisis to reverse it. The company that made Bonviva boasts that it is a "once-a-month" pill, and they'll remind you every month to take it (in case you forget).

Ask your doctor about alendronate. And you can visit the following websites for references.

Hope that helped you somewhat.
