1.Eat a lot of dairy products, yoghurt cheese and milk daily.
2. Exercise and keep a healthy weight.
3. Do that from an early age.

Its something that should be started when you are younger. Make sure that you get plenty of calcium on a daily basis. It is also important to know that if you take calcium supplements to exercise on a daily basis as regular exercise helps calcium deposit in the bones.
Suicide.
Mainly by maximizing their calcium and vitamin D intake and getting regular bone density tests.
Ca and Vit D could be very helpful, but remember that osteoporosis is for the grater part an autoimmune disorder and cannot be prevented.
In short it can't hurt to eat more calcium rich food/drink but it is also hereditary
To prevent getting osteoporosis:
>>Maintain good intake of calcium: milk, cheese, yoghurt and other dairy products and anchovies are excellent examples of source of calcium. Other good foods include sardines, halibut, ocean perch, pike, trout, canned salmon, almonds, brazil nuts, oranges, prickly pears, blackberries, black currants, figs, kumquats, spinach, and leafy greens.
Note taking adequate amount of calcium does not mean you are already safe. Protecting your bones is more of a function of retaining calcium in your bones. And there are other nutrients and factors required to effectively utilize the calcium you have taken in.
>> Along with calcium, magnesium is also a vital component of a bone. Found in nuts, seeds, vegetables, and in smaller amounts in fruit and meat.
>>Good intake of Vitamin D is also important which is essential to calcium absorption in the intestine. Found in milk and sunlight is the "cheapest" source.
>>Adequate potassium intake, found in high amounts in fruits, vegetables, and meat, also is crucial for the prevention of osteoporosis, but not because it is a component of bone, but rather because it is important in preventing urinary losses of calcium and magnesium.
>> Protein rich foods and low sodium are also important factors in maintaining a healthy bone. Bones contain large amounts of cells that are made up partially of protein thus making the protein take the role in bones. Sodium facilitates elimination of calcium, the reason why it has to be avoided.
>>Weight-bearing exercise is also an important factor which will strengthen the bones.Lifting weights or performing calisthenics such as deep knee bends are good ones.
>> Cutting down sugar or carbohydrates intakes take a part as well.Too much sugar intake will stimulate the body to secrete more insulin. The bad result it would give is "robbing" the calcium or healthy bone material out of your limbs and deposits it in your soft tissues. It also prohibits your bones from absorbing those calcium supplements you're swallowing.

>>I found Four Star Tips to prevent osteoporosis: http://www.cybernation.com/livingston/me...
1. Stop drinking sodas or eating baked goods and highly processed foods.
2. Cut your sugar consumption radically. (includes the artificial sweetener, liquor and wine.)
3. Lower your fat intake.
4. Reduce your estrogen levels and/or increase your progesterone levels.
5.HCL with every meal helps the absorption of dietary calcium.
6. Don't drink chlorinated water.
7. Use laxatives, diuretics, antacids and cortisone treatments as little as possible.
8. Lift weights.
9. Don't smoke.
10.Osteoporosis is not a given. You can control your life. Just eat right!
first you lets c what is osteoporosis

its a condition where the bone is affected(due to more bone resorption than bone formation).hence the bone matrix is gradually depleted and it becomes brittle(porous).

factors leading to osteoporosis are:
-low calcium level in diet and hence in body
-lack of vitD
-reduced production of estrogen in women(menopause)
- lack of execise(bed ridden)
-renal diseases etc

hence if people can prevent the above they can avoid osteoporosis i.e
-proper diet(should meet rda for calcium and vitamins)
-appropriate exercises
-estrogen pills etc
