Do miners suffer an increased risk of osteoporosis (if at all) as a result of working underground?

Answers:
You only need to be exposed to sunlight for 15 minutes each day to provide enough vitamin D for bone strength. Due to all the EXERCISE. You know load bearing EXERCISE. I suspect they at a lower risk but I will look into it and give you may answer after skyfire. Cheers.
Looked into it there doesnt seem to be very many epidem studies into profession/career and osteo. I did find a site that said you only need minutes of sun to produce oooodles of Vit D. Also that weight bearing exercise is more important. So now I am convinced the miners are safe from osteo as long as they live long enough to make it to old age.lol. Check out the sites below they have some interesting info on osteo, and dexa.

Why would they? Are you thinking it has to do with a difference in gravitational pull? Or are you thinking it might be lack of Vitamin D from sunlight? Just wondering where you got this idea...
