Can calcium supplements really fight off osteoporosis?
I had two servings of milk, half a slice of cheese (1 whole slice is 25% DV), a calcium supplement (40% DV), and am going to drink some hot cocoa later on tonight. Was this enough calcium or should I have taken a whole slice of cheese? I feel bad for not eating the whole thing because now I'm wondering if I'm giving myself enough nutrients.

They really do help and if you are in doubt about how much you are getting then you should take one
Calcium doesn't just come from dairy products. You get calcium from oranges and lots of other foods. Unless you have a problem with osteoporosis, I would not be concerned if you have a good diet and take a daily multiple suppliment.
While milk and other dairy products technically contain calcium, most of the calcium is depleted during the manufacturing process and while sitting on the shelf of the grocery store. Your best bet for getting the calcium your body needs is to take 2 Tums twice a day.
Oh, to answer the question - it calcium doesn't "fight off" osteoporosis, but it can help in getting osteoporosis.
