Why are women more prone to osteoporosis?
genetics and the fact that women bones get weaker starting at the age of 30.
'Cos women lose calcium during menstrual period.
Estrogen helps keep the calcium in our bones...when women hit menopause, estrogen is decreasing, therefore not holding the calcium in our bones as well as before menopause.
Bones get weaker starting at 30? I missed the memo on that. Gimme a break. Take care of yourself, balanced diet, plenty of calcium and vitamin D...and live life to the fullest!
As the levels of estrogen decrease in our systems as we age, the depletion of calcium becomes more advanced. Also, having babies simply SUCKS the nutrients from our bodies for the entire time that we carry and then nurse them. A good calcium supplement is ALWAYS in order (I was advised to take Viactiv soft chews...WAY more gentle on the stomach than tablets!).
Because women lose calcium during menopause and when they are getting older so they are more prone. So please drink your milk everyday! =)
I hope this helps
