The drug Alendronate/Fosamax for osteoporosis..?
why can't we lie down after taking it for 30 minutes before consuming food for the day. What's the reason?

They can be quite hard on the stomach. You wouldn't want that medication refluxing back up your esophagus. Talk about your super heartburn,lol.

It has to do with its pH and its effects on the oesophogus. basically if you sit up the theory is that it wil travel into your staomch faster. this is especially so in older people (who are the biggest consumers) who may have problems swallowing.
another issue is that it may cause dizziness in some people- dont want them having to go from a flat (prone) position to standing up really fast with these side effects (obviously)

The manufacturers just want to ensure proper absorption of the drug. If you notice they also emphasize to just swallow and not chew or suck on the tablet. This is because the drug can be quite "abrasive" on the mouth.
