Osteoporosis fracture interview! please answer!?
my mother has osteoporosis and has a back fracture and ofcourse is other in terrible pain beside it and really cant ever do a whole lot. her doctor tells her she cant give her any torment meds for it she has to see a bone specialist, i do not understand that, and i was wondering if any one would know what charitable off medication would help her pain the best. conceivably someone who has this disease with experience could help me to comfort her, but she needs some answers cause like i said she is other in horrible pain, so any answeres would help, appreciation.
Answers: Does she have a broken back NOW, or is this a previous fracture that is still cause her pain? If she currently has a fracture, there is no point she shouldn't have something prescribed for pain. I do agree that she needs to see a bone specialist (ortho.) too. In the meantime, if her doc insists on not prescribing her something, she can alternate Tylenol near ibuprofen. Good luck!
**EDIT** If she has liver problems, that's another reason her doc wouldn't want to give her profoundly of pain relievers. They'd stay in her system, causing an overdose (her liver wouldn't filter out the chemicals approaching it should, causing a build-up of potentially dangerous drugs in her system). I would lurk & see what the ortho. says. In the meantime, she can still use a heating pad, fall activities, and alternate the Tylenol & ibuprofen. As long as she's waiting about 4-6 hours before taking another dose (and not taking the max. doses), she should be ok. She may twine up needing a pain specialist as well.
Running, arthritis and osteoporosis?
Question roughly speaking osteoporosis?
What could you do on you own to treat the side effects of Boniva(for osteoporosis)?
