Too childish to enjoy Osteoporosis?
I fell off my chair when my doctor told me that at 42 I am already suffering from Osteoporosis. I am not menopausal, my mother had her menopause at 54 so I should follow her guide. No one suffers from this disease in my family.
Does the evolution of osteoporosis stop with medication? Can it bring back under control? can it be stopped or reversed?
I know I should be researching on the Internet but I can't concentrate right now on long medical text.
Thanks,
Answers: Yes, you can stop bone loss and increase bone density and strength. If you smoke, quit...this make it worse, as does excessive alcohol consumption. Weight bearing exercise, like stair climbing and walking, will strengthen your bones. If you take a Calcium supplement, I recommend Os-Cal D...it have 500mg Calcium plus Vitamin D. Vitamin D helps increase your absorption of the calcium. You can take 1500mg a time, but only take one pill three times daily...your body will not hold more than 500mg at a time. There are also prescription medications you can talk to your doctor about.Fosamax, Miacalcin, and others. You should also achieve plenty of calcium in your diet...calcium enriched foods, dairy, dark green leafy vegetables, broccoli, kale, salmon, etc.
Here's a great website when you quality like you can deal with it- http://www.medicinenet.com/osteoporosis/...
and one for calcium rich foods- http://www.iofbonehealth.org/patients-pu...
Good luck! It can be controlled, so try not to stress too much!
At a sure point your bones cannot grow anymore. This is why it is so important for women to get their calcium/vit d. Strength exercises can also help you increase your bone mass. So it is crucial to do these things while you still can!
Yes you can stop or reverse it, but at a certain point you cannot reverse it!
poor diet can cause this. i beleve meds will only slow it down but they will not reverse it. stop smoking ( if you smoke the tiny blood vessel will not get oxygen to bones ) exercise and eat well.
