Should I be getting headaches after a spinal tap?
I only get them when I sit up. I have been laying in bed for over 24 hours and sick of laying flat. I was told to return to ER if my headache worsened. I don't want to go unless I have go.
Thanks

You have what is called a spinal headache. You sat up too quickly after the spinal. You should go back to the ER. They can do something called a blood patch that will rid you of the headaches. Otherwise, get used to them, you will have them for several months.

Yes, that is common, it is one of the worst side effects of spinal tap
I would think a headache is normal, because the spine is linked directly to your head and brain.
Very common...do listen to the advice though...if they get worse go to the ER.
I had severe ones fro about 48 hours after my spinal tap. They told me to watch for blurry vision, nausea, and sever pain. Lucky mine didn't get that bad. Hope you feel better.
They have been having very bad luck with people getting headaches from them around here. They let you up too soon and it happens.
I know three people that had headaches for several days and had to go back to the hospital for something called a "blood patch". I don't know what it is, but that's what they told me that had to make it go away. Sounds like the doctors were incompetent to me.
Lay down and try to sleep and if it isn't gone then do what they said and go to the ER.
I hope you feel better soon. Please call your doctor or the ER instead of asking all the nice people here on YA that might answer with good intentions and little real knowledge for something like post-spinal tap headaches.
Yes, this is a common when one has had a spinal tap. Stay on your back as long as possible. If your headache has not gone away by Monday, call your physician.
