My son has scioliosis and is having spinal fusion. Anyone out there ever had this surgery? Any advice?
I am looking for any advice from parents or people who had had the surgery on pain management. I would like to hear your experience. What helped you with the pain etc. Any advice will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance

I have scoliosis, and had the surgery. It was really helpful. I didnt have any pain for a long time, and was alot straighter. Now I do, but its because I had fallen, and now I am going thru pain management. But My rods have been in place for over 15years now with no problems from them. The problem part is below the rods where it isnt fused. But there are alot of websites to look on, and alot forums too for scoliosis. They may have him do some physical therapy. Just make sure the doctor is a really good surgeon. Good Luck to you and your son! Just to add in a lil more..I had over a 60 degree curve. After the surgery you can barely even tell i have a curve now. I was 13 years old when I had my surgery done. There will be some pain afterwards, but its normal for that type of surgery. But I would rather have this big scar on my back, then have to worry about if my ribs are gonna start compressing on my heart and lungs. I live a very normal life, and have 3 very beautiful kids. I hope this helps. I know how nerve wrecking this is.Just hang in there and everything will be fine! Your son will come out of the surgery more confident and alot straighter!
