Son in steel boned orthopaedic corset for spinal disorder should wear it 23 hours a day will not conform?

On recent posts to this question one answer was to see his doctor which we had done a few times but with no outcome, this time I was lucky we actually got to see his consultant who was not at all impressed him not wearing it as prescribed. He decided he now needed a new corset as he had nearly outgrown this one. The new one was fitted yesterday and they have put through the lace eyelets those plastic bag tie that once fastened have to be cut off to release, this has worked. His new corset is more extensive than his previous in being it stil goes to underarm but also as padded straps over his shoulders. It still extends right down onto his buttocks but is lower at its front. The boning is still rigid moulded steels and it is worn just as tight. The problem now is because it is strapped over his shoulders and made lower sitting down on anything but a high chair is extreamily difficult for him, bending is practically nil. Any idias for him to be able to use a table or desk to work at.

Answers:
I didn't have to wear 23 hours a day but when I had to wear for 12 hours a day (after dinner til I wake up in the morning)

I put pillow on the chair so I could sit down better ... Today they have those office chair with comfortable sitting and height adjustment ... That would help too ...

Does he have a waterbed ? The ones that comes in tubes? (there is 2 kinds of waterbed) It did help me sleep better when I had the brace on

Hope I was helpful
Gosh, this is a tough story. I wish you all the best. I don't have an answer, but have you talked to the docs about any support groups or resource groups for this type of thing. What about the March of Dimes. I don't know. I wish I could help. I've seem these kind of motor operated sling things that help move bedridden adults in and out of things. Maybe you could contact a medical supply house of some kind.
