Does anyone know how safe cervical spinal fusion is?
I have to have a cervical spinal fusion done. I don't know any other option to get out of pain from both the right and left nerve being compressed. However I am verry worried about how safe the surgery is and if it will turn out to e a good thing.

There's a bigger question involved in any spinal fusion. What are the risks of NOT having the surgery? What is your chance that your problem will progress to the point that you cannot function either because of pain or because of paralysis? That's the real question.
I'm a nurse. I feel that this would be best for you in order to relieve pain. I think that you should tell your doctor how you feel so he can ease your fears. You will be fine, and of course there are always risks. You must see rather the risks out weigh the rewards. I think in your case it would be worth the trouble. Take care.
