Has anyone out there had cervical spinal stenosis surgery?
I am at the point of whether or not to have this surgery and I'm scared to death. There are 2 vertabra that are severe. What is the recovery time, when can I return to work, etc. Nothing helps anymore. I'm tired of taking all this medication that doesn't work. I also have severe facet degenerative disease as well and I am sick and tired of living in a fog. I have always had so much energy and now I'm so depressed. Of course there is the issue of missing work and not being able to pay my bills. What am I going to do? I really need some serious answers. Thanks and God bless.
i personally havn't had it. But it depens on exactly what kind of surgery you have.
If they fuse sections of you're spine together, it could mean up to 2 weeks in hospital and up to 9 months wearing a stiff brace.
I know exactly how you feel, i have arthritis in my neck, all the way down my sping, lower back, hips and knees.
I have had something simular. I had a herniated disk in my neck - had a interbody fusion in 2000. I still suffer from chronic neck pain but am definately MUCH better. I am thinking about having facet injections for degen. disease as well. Have you had these before?
If you have tried all other options and have had a 2nd and 3rd opinion and they all recommend surgery then I would go for it. You cannot continue to live like this.
good luck - I really feel for you!
I have had spinal surgery in Oct.03. 2 shattered disc, misdiagnosed as nerve damage for 14 months.I have dealt w/ this for 5 yrs. now SEEK A SECOND OP ION first!! Ask your Dr. or a physical therapist about a tens unit. My ins. paid for one and it has been my lifeline and still is!! Helps w/ pain control and muscle stimulation,(much better than the fog that goes w/meds.) The surgery did help, BUT you will always have too be careful about lifting, pulling and bend those knees!! Good luck and God Bless!(mine is put out by R.S. MEDICAL TENS UNIT)
