I would suggest asking your doctor first to make sure it is alright. If you have already, and you are not doing physical therapy, I would do some physioball exercise to build some core strength, maybe invest in a personal trainer. I would also suggest finding a chiropractor that speciallizes in sport injury and rehab. They will have an excellent aray of exercises to stabilize the area around the fusion, they can explain why this is important, and I know it is a worry of most people "I don't think it is safe to have my back adjusted after a fusion." A good chiropractor will talk to you about the fusion and explain why adjustments through the rest of your spine and joints is important for healing.
