Does the new drx9000 spinal decompression unit really work and can nys workers comp be made to pay ?
wife has degenerative disk disease. the only options she currently has are high doses of prescription pain killers.it is an ongoing battle for about 7 years now. it seems that because its nys workers compensation from a work related (origional) injury all nuerosurgons that we have seen are unwilling to do anything. Is it because it's comp? recently saw an add for spinal decompression with the drx 9000. wonder if it's worth a shot.Probably nys comp board won't approve. they are a pain in the (you know what).and are the least cooperative when it comes to any thing much beyond allowing alot of drugs.Makes me think that they are getting kickbacks for it.Any one knows the true scoop on any of this please respond.Much appreciated.francis v

The work comp board would most likely not approve that treatment as it is not a widely accepted method of treatment. I've read in a couple different places that the drx9000 will help while you are receiving the treatment, however, once it's ended, the pain will return. Plus, it doesn't really cure the problems, it just helps with the pain. Has your wife seen a spine specialist yet? That would be my suggestion. Also is work comp still paying for treatment? Do they have control over the medical treatment (not sure what the laws are in your state)? I'd be surprised if the work comp claim is still open since as you said it's been 7 years, I would think that the claim would have been settled now. If the claim has been settled, the work comp board will have no say on what treatment you pursue. It is true that some doctors will not treat a patient if it is work comp, but if they do agree to see your wife, I highly doubt that the fact that it is work comp will affect the way they treat your wife. Good luck and I hope all goes well.
