How bad does a spinal tap hurt?

I have never had one. But I have friends who say excruciating pain. And I have a couple of friends who say little more that very uncomfortable.
I would guess it has to do with your pain thresh-hold.
It's definitely not pleasant, and generally requires you to stay in bed for a few days after because it messes up your equilibrium.
I had a spinal tab done with my last child it hurts when they put the needle in. I've had problem with lower back since, I don't think it was done right, I had the epidermal done with my oldest 2 and it didn't seem near as bad good luck. so I prefer epidermal...
