Right now it is only in the research phase, and I cannot find anyone in the USA who is experimenting with this on humans.
You may remember that Christopher Reeve was suspected of having this treatment done outside the US before his death, and his name is on a stem-cell research facility, but they still are not experimenting on humans.
At the current time, it is more likely that they would use your own stem cells for such an experiment before they would use either cord-cells or placenta cells. I had my own stem cells transferred to my tibia to help it grow, and it still hasn't worked after a year.
My doctors tell me that it is more advantageous to use one's own stem cells for stem cell transplants for a number of reasons, and the placental and cord cells are primarily used for research, with the objective of using one's own stem cells when those particular operations become available. You cannot just inject cord or placental cells into the general area and hope for the best, because that isn't how it works.
It is very expensive, and your best hope would be to contact the research facilities to offer to be a test subject.

There are stumbling blocks to this treatment, mostly put in place by people who do not understand the process and the benefits, and who have it in their heads you are destroying a fetus to get the cells, which is NOT true. They feel this way until one of their own children suddenly could possibly be cured by stem cells - then their feelings change.
