What is the cause of back pain in the mid left region. It's not spinal, but around the kidney area?
It happens occasionally but there is no UTI as a possible cause.

As a person who suffers from back pain and has had all the tests possible to try and find the problem I can tell you this:
If it's in the Kidney area it is most likely a kidney problem, suchs as cysts on the kidney. Kidney pain can also radiate throughout the rest of the back. This is called referred pain. Not to mention stress can cause all sorts of issues with your body, back pain being only one of them.
I would suggest seeing your doctor and getting a CT scan of that area. I had that and an MRI and thats how they found my 2 bulging discs and the cyst on my kidney.
Also I can't recommend enough, about finding a good chiropractor to help with longterm body health. Find one who specializes in soft touch and uses an activator, as well as doing Nucca adjustments. Not one who just cracks your back.
I would suggest you go and see your doctor to be sure, and hopefully, get the right answer. I have had similar pain in that area as well, I always try to brush it off as sleeping on a bad mattress, or too many crunches at the gym. It is best to have it checked out it could be a signal to problems in and/or around the kidney. Best to know for sure, pay attention to what your body is telling you.
I'm fascinated by this question, as I have had the same pain for quite some time. For me it has seemed to coincide with times I have been down/depressed, but it's hard to tell if one is causing the other or vice versa. I've had everything structurally checked and no spine problems were discovered, so either it's internal or in my head. My pain seems to center near the top of my left hip in back, and radiates up to the kidney area and sometimes down to my hamstring. I found that there is a major nerve that terminates in that region but again, all my spine imagery and exams show no problems in that arena. E me at yahoo if you want to discuss further, good luck!
