Are there any alternative ways to induce bladder to empty itself in the case of spinal epidurals in men?

Are there any alternative ways to induce bladder to empty itself in the case of spinal epidurals (anaesthesia from waist down), than the use of invasive methods like the catheter.

Answers:
Probably not. The epidural effect causes inhibition of the voluntary muscles that allow urination. I doubt any "alternatives" would be strong enough to override the epidural.
