Do you agree with stem cell research when used to grow body parts or regenerate spinal cords etc?
I think it a good idea ,if it means you can save a person life or help them walk again if they are paralysed.
but some people think it is wrong.

I have a mechanical heart valve and have to take Warfarin to thin my blood out to avoid blood clots on it, if this advance in medical science can get rid of that then yes it's a good thing.
I also have to attend the hospital for blood tests to control the anti-coagulant level in my blood and this could possible be avoided freeing up the pharmasists time to other matters thus improving the NHS
If it can be done to treat people from there own cells(Like the ones found in bone marrow) I say bring it on and GET YOUR RC in gear Blair and leave knowing you really did make a difference to the lives of the people of the UK!
It can`t be wrong to help people to become whole and healthy.
I think it is absolutely appropriate. Why not save someone's life when you can.
I think it's right, the lives we could save or improve vastly outweighs any other arguement.
yes
Excellent idea but once again, the Catholic Church takes a medieval viewpoint. I sometimes wonder if Catholic countries still burn witches.
I aggree, it is amazing what they can do nowadays. We should never stand in the way of progress.
I think some people don't aggree with it becuase they fear the unkown, or don't trust the moral ethics of our scientists today.
Obviously it is a tender subject but if it means we can cure diseases/heal the wounded or disabled then who are we to judge?
yes i do, who is it hurting?
Without doubt. The only people who seem to have a problem with it are certain over-zealous religious people. I think God [in hope] wants us to be good and saving lives is a good thing
My father has parkinsons and stem cell research could help him but at the moment its not being allowed.
I think the question referes to stem cells from fetuses - which I think has been outlawed.
I guess it comes down to that 'playing god' question - but all we are doing is learning more precisely how our bodies work, how they naturally repair themselves, and creating therapies to assist that - neurological and pyhsical damage will be healed by injecting stem cells - heart disease, parkinsons... there are so many uses that we don't even know about yet.
The only problem is how to get enough of teh cells for the therapy in question. I think that may be from teh person's own bone marrow - but don't quote me on taht
Those people would not think it is so wrong if they needed a new spinal cord or liver.
My bro in law has M S I have read it can benefit sufferers but it is expensive and only certain countries do it. It is about time the U K took notice and helped them out, without the hassle of having to travel.
I have no moral problems with the type of research you describe.
