I have a compresiion fracture of the vertabre(T-11). The Doctor sugested spinal fusion.?
Does anyone else have a similar situation or know somebody that does. I'm not sure if i should get the surgery or not right now im in a body brace. If you know of anyone that either had spinal surgey or a compression fracture of their vertabre. Please feel free to contract me Thank you- R.M

With spine problems, i would definitely go for a 2nd and maybe even 3rd opinion. I have cervical area problems and doc mentioned fusion but that would mean I would no longer be able to turn my head in any direction. That would mean I couldn't drive any more, so i just put up with the pain with pain meds.

I had a boss who injured his back playing tennis and had the spinal fusion, it didn't take long and he was back at work.
I have an older cousin who has had fusion a few different times in her back. Because she can no longer bend at the back she has had to bend at the knees and is now having knee problems.
My alternative is back surgery, but I'm told it "may not" work so I'm not going thru with it. My case is different than yours though.
I suspect you are looking to have the surgery and I wish you well. Make sure you have the insurance coverage for the operation and the drug program, and maybe even the gap insurance before you go for the operation.
my cousin a friend and a girl i met all have had it in different places in their back...you need to do it to inhibit further injury...there is a risk of becoming paralyzed either way...more if you dont do it..just make sure you have a good surgeon...my ex boyfriend broke his neck at the c6 vertebra, jumping in a pool and is now paralyzed..so feel lucky to be where you are:) it could always be worse
