Question about risk of having an epidural after having a spinal fracture stabilized with titanium?
I broke my spine a couple of years ago, and a vertabre was removed and a metal spring put in and also some metal rods, I am now pregnant and concerned about having an epidural in my spine when i go into labour, i would do anything not to have this as i am concerned about what will happen in my spine... but i've told that if i need to have a c section i will need the epidural for sure... is this true or is there anything else i can do? before you say go to the doctor i have asked two, and they both said not to worry till it comes time, but i would prefer to know now before i end up in labour with more doctors who dont want to listen.
thanks

First congratulations!
Hun I wouldnt really worry about the epidural, the dr's are sooo good about doing them and only if needed.
I dont know the exact answer, but I truly dont think you need to worry... IF it is risky they won't do it! OK
It all depends on which particular vertebrae were repaired.
Epidurals are given between L2 and L3 if you did not have any injury to this area you should be OK.
Always question and ask do not trust everything you doctor says, this is an opportunity to learn.
