Nerve damage scaring from spinal meningitis?

I was diagnosed with spinal meningitis when i was about 2yrs old not sure but i believe it was the bacterial form, but i have 4 semi round scars from 1/2" to 1/4" in diameter on my inner left leg starting about 4 inches below the groin to the lower half of my calf. I have been told this was a direct result of the meningitis, and have always been wondering what kind of damage or long term effects this could indicate
