Does anyone understand "Spinal Fluid" Cancer?

Life expectancy?
Symptoms and so on.
Any information would be helpful.
Thanks.

There is nothing as such! There are brain tumors and spinal cord tumors. "Fluids" do not grow tumors whatsoever! But, cancer cells from a brain or spinal cord tumor may be found in the spinal fluid, free floating. Either you are refering to this, or to spinal cord tumors. If the latter, my ability to answer will depend on the type of tumor, location, grade, age, etc. Hope this helps.

Added: Sorry to hear about your husband. As Not the Momma stated, the spinal fluid cavity is a closed system, so any seeds of tumors originating in the CNS can only metastasize within the CNS, and NEVER to any other part of his body. Someone is not giving the right into. To diagnose cancer cells in the spinal fluid, a spinal tap (lumbar puncture) is done, and the cerebro-spinal fluid (CSF) is sent to the pathologist. Treatment is generally simple - intra-thecal (into the spinal fluid) injections of chemotherapeutic drugs, depending on the type of malignancy. But remember, this is a secondary focus. The primary focus HAS to be found and treated accordingly!!
alphone's answer is correct. i am a 4 time survivor of spinal cord cancer. several times my cancer seeded, or had cells travel to other places along the spinal cord by floating in the spinal fluid, but that is not spinal fluid cancer.

well, that would be hard to do -- have spinal fluid cause tumors throughout his body since that fluid is in a closed system, that being the central nervous system which consists of basically the brain and the spinal column. spinal cord cancers are relatively rare, some types more so than others. mine was one of the rarer ones. only one time in all of the recorded cases of this type of cancer has it ever occured outside the central nervous system. once. so to have spinal fluid cause tumors all over someones body. it doesn't make sense. now, to have them all over the CNS, that makes sense!
