I had a spinal done yesterday, what do I do about the headache?

Answers:
When the doctor performs a spinal tap, they remove some of your cerebrospinal fluid so that the lab can perform various tests on it, usually to see if you have meningitis. Your body produces a certain amount of CSF, and when some of that is removed, it changes the pressure around your brain -- which can result in a pretty horrible headache!
Unfortunately, it will take a few days for your body to replenish the extracted fluid and for the pressure to return to normal. Until then, I suggest that you lie down as much as possible. The more you move around, the more your pressure will change and this can make the headache worse. Cold compresses help also, and of course you can take Tylenol or Advil -- whatever you're most comfortable with.
If you run a (higher) fever or if your headache gets unbearable, you should definitely call your doctor. Until then, just take it easy, and you should feel better in a few days.
Take some ibuprofen or naproxen and if that doesn't help call your doc and talk to him about it.
An ice pack on the back of the neck, tylenol and keep your feet elevated are what I was told and it worked for me.
I believe you are supposed to lay down flat as much as possible. Raising up your head will cause the headache.
Drink plenty of fluids. You may want to try a bit of caffeine to help constrict the blood vessels and raise your blood pressure a bit.
Take ibuprofen or tylenol. Try to lay flat as much as possible.
If the headache continues beyond 48 hours, or gets worse, your doctor may do a blood patch, which will seal the tiny hole from the needle insertion. Give them a call if you get no relief from the pain medication and fluids. Good luck!!
