What is spinal meningitis?

Answers:
Spinal meningitis is a deadly infection of the meninges (layers surrounding your spinal cord and barin). It produces neck rigidity and high fever. A spinal tap must be made to render a final diagnosis.
Meningitis is an infection in the membrane and fluid of the brain. Spinal- is the fluid in your spine that leads to the brain. I had it when I was young. Had to have a spinal tap. All I remember about it was the feeling of "tripping" (no balance, couldnt eat or move).
The brain and spinal cord are covered and protected by three layers of connective tissues called the meninges. Through the middle layer the Sub-achacnoid space flows cerebral spinal fluid. Meningitis is when these tissues becomes infected by either a bacteria, or virus. The diagnosis is partly made by examining some of the cerebral spinal fluid. This disease is often fatal if not treated early, and often affects college students.
Virus or Bacteris of membrains surrounding brain can be serve and possibly fatal. Here is a web site to check out.
