Can a spinal adjustment cause an illness?

had my first spinal adjustment at a chiro and next day had swollen glands, 102 fever, headache etc. Do you think they're related

Answers:
No. If you were complaining of neurological symptoms then it could be. What you are describing could be viral or bacterial and are highly unlikely to be as the result of a chiropractic adjustment. (I say highly unlikely because there is the remote possibility of something like a diskitus or joint problem or even rarer abscess formation that could occur and be irritated by an adjustment.)

Not likely. You may have caught some virus, or have an infection going on, but it is very doubtful it is from an adjustment. I would go to see a family doctor tomorrow just in case you have an infection going on- fever and glands being swollen is something that should always be looked into. Also, I would mention the adjustment to your family doctor. In case you are having other problems that you went to the chiropractor for ( neck pain, etc.) just so he gets a whole picture of how your health has been lately.

Hope you feel better soon!
