CAN SPINAL DISK HERNIATION CAUSE GASTROINTESTINAL DISTRESS?

I have been diagnosed with a T11/12 disk herniation which has caused severe spinal stenosis, involving pain and numbness from my waist to my toes. These symptoms I've been experiencing since June of 2005. More recently, I have been having abdominal pain, constipation, and difficulty digesting food. I'm wondering if these new symptoms may result from the spinal problem, or if they are separate altogether.

Answers:
Yes, there's a direct relation between the symptoms that you mention (abdominal pain, constipation, and difficulty digesting food) and disk herniation. I went through the same combination of symptoms and my doctor confirmed the relation. moreover, my pain was gone after two surgeries.
does the stomach pain get worse after eating? have the doc test u for celiac disease that sounds like it
i think so because I just had spinal disk surgery 12 days ago, and one of the main questions doctors would ask me is did I have bowel or bladder problems. I didn't but the nerves in your spine pretty much control everything in your body.
