Are spinal tumors always cancer?

no...but any tumor in a spinal canal can create enough pressure to kill neurons and cause irreversible damage. Doctors call them SOL's. Not because when you get them you are S h it outta luck...but they are called Space Occupying Lesions.

Nope. There are lots of other things that it could be. It could be a benign tumor like a chondroma. No matter what it is, you should make sure you see an orthopedic oncologist so that they can determine what's going on.
