Relieving spinal stenosis pain?
my 82-year-old grandmother has been suffering with spinal stenosis and arthritis for many years now. she recently had an x-stop procedure which helped a bit (and she is not in good enough condition for more surgery), but she's still in tremendous pain and the doctors refuse to give her any kind of painkillers/narcotics. they are giving her celebrex but it's not helping. any suggestions?

Unless there's some health issue that pain meds will cause a problem with, it sounds like she needs a new doctor. You say she's not in good enough condition for more surgery so this may be why they're saying no to stronger meds. I have some spinal stenosis (and I'm considerably younger than 82!) and it is very painful. It's not my primary problem and I actually asked my doc about the x-stop this morning. (not for me unfortunately) Celebrex will not stop this type of pain. It will help with arthritis though. If it's not a health issue and she can do it, I suggest getting a consultation with a pain management doctor.
