Anyone ever own Spinal Fusion surgery?
My husband had 2 back surgerys in 2002. He have never had a day without affliction. It is now almost unbearable and the only entity the Neurosurgeon is saying is stay in pain, or own a fusion done. The fusion surgery does not sound good. Anyone have any experience near this?
Answers: i almost had a doctor talk me into one 2 years ago. now i live and work next to unbearable pain and i do this all next to 90 mg of morphine a day three times a day. the options are not accurate with fusion, if you are looking to cease the pain, what will the element of life be after wards. speak with both doctors and physical therapist let them (pt's) look at the chart they should give you a straight answer. i am glad i took the time to ask.

Like your husband I have had two lots of surgery on my lumbar spine, however I was lucky and they be 10 years apart. Unfortunately once you have had back surgery you wil invariable own to have more in the future. With this contained by mind I have done a lot of research into the alternatve that are available to patients and what will be available in the adjectives. As I am relatively young (32) I dont want to have a fusion, and if possibly I would not recommend that without no other alternative anyone hold it done as it is a long hard road through rehab to get back to middle-of-the-road (my stepfather has had a fusion... he now is fantastic, playing golf 3 times a week, but the rehab be hard). Through my research and discussions with my surgeon - I have one of the best beurosurgeons in Australia - I own found out all about replacement discs. These are amazing devices which allow you retain full movement through those joints which would otherwise be fused... and the current statistics show great successes. I agree with the previous answer that you really need to research the surgeon who is to accomplish any operation you are going to have, peraps ask if you could speak with any previous patients, or ask the opinion of other surgeons from other specialties...when my first surgeon retired I asked the request for information 'if you needed it done, who would you have do it?'. One thing you must always remember though is that near is a risk in any surgery you have, and it may not necessarily be the surgeon that is at eccentricity (although sometimes it is), but that they have done everything they can, but an alternative solution needs to be found.
Living with Chronic twinge is very difficult and I still suffer with it a great deal, but if your husband can lessen his stomach-ache through the surgery it will be the best thing in the world for him - an you also because it is very rugged to be around someone who is constantly in pain and there is zilch you can do about it. I am sure he will be a totally different person with smaller amount pain.

Was this surgery done in Monterey,CA? In 2001, I had subsidise surgery that practically crippled me. I found a surgeon who specialized in revision surgery and it took 3 operations to fix the first. And after 5 years, I still live with aching every single day. But at least I'm walking again.
I suggest you find a doctor who specializes in revision. Don't newly research the operation, research the doctor as well. I don't recommend taking the advise of the guy who messed him up in the first place! If you are contained by California, write to me and I will tell you where I went. Back surgery is a shocking option. I wish I'd NEVER had it done but I be in a very bad process. Unfortunately, I had a very bad surgeon who ruined my time. He hurt others as well and is still practicing! Meanwhile, I'm still learning how to move like a regular person and trying to find a new life because the out-of-date one is over.
