Can i slip away spinal meningitis to my kids?

I was diagnosed with spinal menigites when I was 1yr infirm. My mother told me that she knew that something was wrong with me when I didnt want to stand or amble. She took me to three different doctors when the last one told her that I had spinal menigites. That was 31yrs ago. The doctos told my mom that I be going to die or be serverly handicaped and that I may never live a life of my own. Well im living proof that the doctors are not always right. My daughter is 1yr old and have been sick for the last 2mon its like im taking her to the doctor every week. These end two days she hasnt been herself. Shes lost her appitite, she screams for nothing. She holds up her legs as if she is surrounded by pain. My mom told me she noticed my disease when I would cry about my legs. Could my daughter own my disease? Did I give it to her? Or could she have gotten it from somewhere else?

Answers:    Well, I don't know what ails your daughter, but the answer to your question is no. You probably have viral menigitis as a baby, and although it is a terrifying illness contained by many ways- the body can and does fight it off resembling it does with other viruses. And you no longer have it, you haven't have it for some 31 years. The bacterial form of meningitis is communicable, and people who have it can pass it on to others. But they are some especially ill people, and you couldn't have it and not know something be very wrong with you. I am sorry your baby girl is sickly at the moment. But I can update you that fortunately, what ails most babies of her age is usually not something that serious. Babies that age just do seem to get sick frequently, in part because they own learner immune systems and haven't got a lot of immunity against the microbes and viruses the rest of us adults have. It's not unusual for a minor illness to put a bit one off their feed at all, and even when they aren't ill- a one year outdated can simply decide they aren't that hungry. The first thing you should do here is take her heat. If it is near 102, then give her some Tylenol, skulk 15-20 minutes, and take her temperature again. If it hasn't come down, then bear her to the ER. And of course, if you feel your mom alarm has gone rotten, take her anyway. It isn't always easy to digit out what's up with one her age, and no one will fault you for coming surrounded by when you can't figure out the trouble. But I think you can relax about the meningitis. It purely doesn't sound like it, to be honest. Babies with meningitis usually don't look apposite at all, they don't tend to cry a lot because it hurts their head. They will tend to hold on or snatch for their head, curl up, and the cry is different than a usual cry- even the usual "I don't feel good" cry. Your baby sounds approaching she doesn't feel well, but you just aren't describing anything that say "meningitis" to me at all. Just take a deep breath and relax. Listen to your mom voice here, and later see if you can put a finger on what the problem is. It might be a nasty cold coming on, it could be a real gas attack, it might even be sore legs due to new walking skills. And unsurprisingly, if you really can't figure it out, go to the ER.
I never overlook my kids illnesses because I had a alarm of meningitis when my youngest daughter was three months old...she wasn't acting herself, crying a weird cry..and she concluded up in the hospital for three days...(no confirmation on what exactly it was)

so I say take her contained by again, find a new doctor, or run some more tests...just to take the edge off your mind
I mean you may be over looking things, but if she's sick she should be taken a look at, sometimes a mothers instinct is better than a doctors opinion
good luck and I hope she feel better
(is she running a fever? watch and make sure she doesn't obtain dehydrated)
You did not give it to her. Tell your doctor your concerns about her symptoms and if you are not satisfied or she isn't better, carry a 2nd opinion. no.
Meningitis is an infection, once it was cleared up out of you it was gone from your body. The simply people you could have given it to would have be those you were around when you were actually sick next to meningitis. at the age of 1.

Meningitis usually follows an infection; such as the flu, an ear infection, a sinus infection, etc. The symptoms are a severe headache with stiff neck. fever, nausea, vomiting, drowsiness, insufficiency of energy, confusion, memory problems or other unusual behavior.

The "holding up of the legs as if in pain" you describe your daughter doing, that in itself may not be a sign of meningitis, it could merely be pain in general anywhere contained by her body. What position is she in when she does this? The issue with the legs that you see typically in a child next to meningitis is that they don't want to lay flat, especially if you place your hand under their head while they are on their fund and try to raise their head up to touch their chin to their chest ... they will bend up their legs to ease the twinge in their stiff neck.
