Can most "female" surgeries be done below a spinal anesthesia?

I would think that anything that is below the waist can be done like this. (My friend Dad have his leg amuputated below the knee under a spinal.)

Answers:    Most, but not all. Some "female" surgeries are done laparoscopically, and surrounded by this case, you will need general anesthetic because they hold to go in through your belly, AND, you need to be paralyzed for this as ably, so your belly can be insuflated with CO2.

EDIT...

Yes, the procedures that you are looking at can be done with a spinal. HOWEVER... It would be better to do an epidural vs spinal. Reason being is that next to a spinal the med is injected directly into the spinal fluid which is below (underneath) the dura. With an epidural, this is injected above the dura in the epidural space. When doing a vaginal procedure, you are sometimes placed in a position called Trendelenburg. This is when your lower body is elevated sophisticated than your upper body. When you have a spinal, that med then can drain up your spinal cord numbing higher up on your body. This can become a problem if it reach that level that controls your breathing...since you are not intubated you have to breathe on your own and if that are is numb, you can't. This doesn't happen near an epidural and is considered safer.

Just something to think about and discuss with the anesthesiologist.
I don't know something like that kind of surgeries but I will tell you my experience of a knee surgery that be going to be done Arthoscopy because I didn't want to be put to sleep. I was prep and given a relaxer but that didn't put me at ease..the surgeon came surrounded by and then all I could do was to communicate and he told them to put me to sleep because I was making THEM nervous...

Good Luck
