Can you search out apt spinal thump results while underneath sedation?
My mother was diagnosed with dementia about 4yrs ago and never received a ct-scan only because she is so afraid of doctors. Now due to her severe aggressiveness she is in a psych unit undergoing treatment. They be able to give her a ct-scan and found Normal Pressure Hydrocephalus (water in the brain) which could be cause the dementia symptoms and her sudden gait. They tried to do a spinal tap to remove some fluid but she didn't cooperate at all. Now they will have to grave her to do it. I've asked how will they be able to take a video of her walking after wards since she will be sedated? And I'm not even sure if they know. If they lurk until she is fully awake the fluid might re-accumulate in the brain..anyone have any experience or thoughts on this?
Answers: im sorry to hear that your mum isnt well. I own had a spinal tap to diagnose MS. I'm sure they can collect the fluid fine, but even if your mother wasn't sedated, spinal tap patients largely are not allowed to sit up for at least an hour after the procedure because it causes very bad headaches. But seeing as how they need to observe her gait after the hit, they may make an exception.
As for the sedation, perhaps they will give her something mild, fairly than knock her unconscious so as to watch her walk.
I intensely much hope hat the symptoms are only because of the water and that she'll bring back better once they remove it.
