Can you perceive the hypodermic when you enjoy a ''spinal tap'' done?
Answers: Everything depends on who's doing it and their experience. Also, you (the patient) play a roll, too. Bigger patients are usually more difficult, but not always.
Someone with a good bit of experience should do you capably, even if they have a difficult time attempting it.
Local anesthetic will be injected with a small needle first (like a high-speed bee sting for 1/2 a second). Usually, this will be all you feel. More local is sometimes given (a little more stinging) if it is needed. Someone with experience (and compassion) should use more if they are have trouble so that you are not too uncomfortable. Someone less experienced may get frustrated more confidently and just keep poking away as it gets more difficult next to little regard to the patient.
If all go well and not too difficult, should just feel the initial stinging, a moment or two bit of pressure in the back and then of late have to lay still for a few minutes while they collect the spinal fluid.
Good luck.
Not the needle but you can feel when it hits the bottle! I felt pressure.
Side note: when they tell you to fabrication down for x number of days after the spinal tap, they mean it. I disregarded this advice and finished up power puking for 3 days.
You are injected with smaller needles to numb the area. You don't actually perceive the spinal tap needle, but you will feel pressure and possibly a "pop" when it hits the space
